Customer Need/Request:

This customer was seeking a budget-friendly solution to add shade to an existing concrete pad, maximizing shade for their new pickleball court.

Manufacturing & Installation Overview

The Process of Making and Installing the Shades:

Working in partnership with ABC Recreation, Sun Shade Co. designed and manufactured a self-supporting sloped shade structure. Every component was cut using our in-house CNC machines for precise fitment, ensuring seamless assembly and perfect alignment on site. The steel frames were fabricated by CWB-certified welders, following approved welding procedures for strength, consistency, and long-term durability.

This shade structure is modular; it can be expanded in multiples of 2 posts starting with 4 posts, 12’ sections at a time. Our client wanted two sections of 12’ each. One benefit of this shade structure is its self-supporting design and ability to be mounted to a concrete pad without the need for concrete footings. Another benefit is that installation time is significantly less, as the structure is bolted together using structural specific bolts and nuts.

Since this structure was mounted to an existing concrete pad, the anchoring hardware would be exposed, therefore we included base plate covers that hide the anchors and make for a clean look.

The result is an easy-to-install structure that provides maximum shade coverage across the playing surface—all while maintaining a clean, professional look.

Thank you to ABC Recreation for their partnership & support on this job!
